Dark Times Lie Ahead Harry...

Over the past couple of months I actually read the latest 2 books in the Harry Potter series, and damn they were really entertaining. But what really excited me was the cinematic potential, though due to the crappynes of Goblet of Fire, I'm not holding my breath. Now I haven't read that book, but in books 5 and 6 there are some really cool scenes and the storylines are much darker, which would make for some bitchin movies if done correctly. Good luck Warner Bros.

The Journey Begins Anew...

Hello everyone, welcome to the official PnA Productions blog. Among other musings and observations, I am going to use this space to chronicle the production of a new feature film. It's very early in the game though, as I just this last weekend finished an outline of all the key scenes, so a lot of writing lies ahead.

The film in question is about a young man who becomes a hero; partly by choice, but also due to dire circumstances in his life. The film realistically explores the idea of someone actually deciding they could make a difference by going out into the night and trying to help people. Every action has a consequence however, and the journey of the main character is a dark one. Will he become a hero? Or will his own pride, ego, and ambition be his downfall?

Now I have wanted to make a movie like this for a long time, but it wasn't until recently that I actually thought it realistic goal. I had another feature idea I was working on that was purety melodrama involving a love triangle and family tragedy. I had written an outline and quite a few scenes, but it just didn't seem to be coming together the way I wanted. Then Todd Haberkorn, a fine actor who participated in Absolution, called me one day about making a movie that takes superheros seriously. I liked his idea very much and we began having lose conversations about details of the main character and how he functions on a nightly basis. Then one day it dawned on me to combine the ideas I had from the dramatic feature and the ideas Todd and I had talked about into one film, which would show what drives a man to dawn a mask. What is he hiding from? Why would he risk his own life on a nightly basis? So with all these ideas and with some things I've always wanted to do, I started jotting down a bunch of ideas.

Then finally last weekend, I sat down (during All-Star Saturday night) and wrote the outline. It's rough and there are a lot of disjointed ideas, but I'm excited about the posibilities. I have a few scenes written, and every day or so I'm going to try to flesh out at least 1 scene. The goal is to be done with the 1st draft by the end of March. I expect this movie to take at least the next couple of years to complete, because among other things I'll be attempting to raise funds in order to make this right. Wish me luck.
