Zompocalypse...The Musical?

Oh yeah! This coming summer we'll be making a short musical featuring singing and dancing zombies and aliens. A rough script has been completed and I'm just waiting on my man Arles to get some free time so we can rock out with the music. Jason (playing the main character) hopefully will come down for a couple weeks in June or July and we'll get going. It'll have cool music, fun action scenes, nasty zombies, creepy aliens, and even a bit of a love story. I'd say it's the only flick to combine just about every freaking genre imaginable. I'm excited, it should be hilarious.

On the superhero movie front, I've got 20 pages complete, which isn't bad. Todd and I were discussing shooting a trailer first to try and raise some funds, which is a good idea and will happen eventually. No timetable for any of this yet, but that's cool cuz I need some time to finish pounding out that first draft that's in my head so we can see what we've got. I'm super excited about this, probably more so than about anything than I've ever done movie-wise. The potential is there not only to make a cool movie with compelling characters and a great story (including kick ass action scenes), but the originality of idea and how it works within the "superhero movie" genre should make it easier to find money to make the movie. I honestly feel the overall package could actually make some $$$ down the road, which is something I've never even considered before, but I figure it's time to start thinking that way if we're going to ever make something that people will actually see.

Thanks for reading, have a nice day.

Movie Reviews

Hello again, I've decided if I see a cool movie worth sharing, I'll post a minor review here on the blog. I promise I won't waste a bunch of space with this, but for the two following movies, it's worth it...

V for Vendetta: Hugo Weaving is the man! And you hardly even see his face in the entire flick. Natalie also was great, and I was very impressed with the movie overall. Interesting story, characters, and ideas behind it all. The action scenes might have been better if toned down a bit (Larry and Andy, I'm talking to you), but that's about my only complaint. Oh yeah, I'm all about the 1812 Overture. Go check it out if you're into movies with a litte brains behind the action, and if you want to see Hugo do more with his voice than most normal actors can do period. Sweet! -4.5/5

Thank You For Smoking: After seeing the trailer, which was hilarious, I was really excited about this one. Thank goodness, it lived up to my expectations. Aaron Eckhart owns his role and I was laughing out loud the entire way through. Even though Nick Naylor (Eckhart) is pushing cigarettes, you end up rooting for him. He's that charming, and his relationship with his son is good shit. It suceeds on all levels, and is a flick that anyone can appreciate. Last but not least, Katie Holmes (playing a news reporter doing a story on Nick) has a line about wanting to see where the Devil lives...doesn't she know that one already... -5/5

Stay tuned for more reviews, peace out.
