Summer Movie Season is OVER

They don't make them like this anymore. I saw the Towering Inferno this weekend, and it was freaking awesome. There is no way in hell Hollywood would make a movie like this anymore, it just wouldn't happen. And seeing Steven McQueen and Paul Newman share the screen with all those other stars was awesome. And my God they were put in hella danger. No CGI here folks. Check it out. Now, on to the problem at hand...

Superman Returns: Well, it was pretty sweet. Not the greatest movie ever made or anything, but it really gets me excited for Superman Returns 2: Superman is Back Again, or whatever they end up calling it. If Bryan Singer stays on it could be the X2 to X-Men 1, which would be awesome. Anyways, go check out Superman Returns if you haven't seen it yet, or better yet, go see it in IMAX, which I'm doing this weekend hopefully. -4/5

Pirates of the Carribean 2: Now this is what I'm talking about...summer fun at it best. Johnny Depp is the man, and even though this was kinda long, it was at least entertaining throughout. Especially that action sequence at the end with the swordfight and the wheel and the chest and the Kraken, etc etc etc. See it, it's fun. -4.5/5

So yeah, it's only the begning of July, but there isn't really anything I'm looking foward too until Casino Royale and The Fountain, which come this fall. Summer 2007 should be good though, with Spiderman 3, Harry Potter 5, Pirates 3, and hopefully On the Wire. :) Keep it reel, thanks for reading.

RIP - H.A.L. 3

Well, this post doesn't really have anything to do with movie news, but it's important to report that my computer, lovingly known as H.A.L. 3, has passed away last night at the ripe age of five from total hard drive failure.

It seems only fitting that on this July 4th H.A.L. finally has his independence from my torturing of his CPU with all my movie editing. I know it was a lot for him to handle, but he took it like a champ. I've completely gotten rid of his main hard drive and am using his back-up drive to reinstall the operating system. Soon I'll put H.A.L. up on Craigslist in his original out-of-the-box form so hopefully some other family can enjoy his sarcastic sense of humor.

I just need to move on.

H.A.L. and I have made numerous movies together since I got him back in Sophomore year...some of our best films have been exported from his CPU. Unfortunatly, due to the total hard drive failure, H.A.L. has left nothing behind (no music, videos, scripts, photos, or anything)...it's all gone.

So during this hard time, I might ask to lean on some of you...i.e. letting me upload your CDs, send me your photos, borrow your videos...etc. But now is the time for mourning. Rest In Piece H.A.L. 3. You will always be my favorite computer.

At least until I finish saving up and getting that Apple G5 with the 23 inch HD Cinema Display in a few months.

Happy July 4th everyone.
